Just another day of foolishness here in the good old US of Autocracy. Nothing more outlandish than the usual but still always gotta check myself that the things I’m reading are actually happening. And sadly, most of them are.
The build up to Liberation Day is getting old. Too much blathering and chest-puffing for my taste. Maybe a few hours worth, or a day at most, is worth attention. But at this point, I’m kind of at the oh, what are we doing now? …Yawn…..stage. Like get on with it buddy. DO it or don’t. No one is phased by your game playing anymore. It’s tired and old. Find a new schtick.
But what’s not funny is the totality of the DOGE demolition. The reductions by agency to date are as follows: (including today’s HHS 10,000 – some of whom found out they were out of a job when their badges didn’t work.). If that isn’t the height of cowardice, I don’t know what is. If you’re going to sack someone, at least have some balls in your own sack to tell them to their faces.
Confirmed reduction so far, by agency
U.S. Agency for International Development |
More than 99% |
Voice of America (U.S. Agency for Global Media) |
More than 99% |
Education |
46% |
Health and Human Services |
24% |
Energy |
13% |
Internal Revenue Service (Treasury) |
13% |
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau |
12% |
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Commerce) |
11% |
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation |
10% |
National Science Foundation |
10% |
And this is only round one. There are more reductions scheduled in several of the larger agencies.
And I should give note to the Dem circus as well. Cory Booker decided that standing and giving the longest speech about all of the things he doesn’t like that TOM is doing is how the other side should go about addressing and stopping him. Uh huh. As we are over 24 hours at this point, how is that going for you? There’s no one in the Senate chamber listening to him. The Dems have GOT to find a new strategy. They keep looking backward or sticking with what they’ve been doing for 12+ years that got us here. Stop talking down to people. Stop flapping your arms and your gums. Do a sit in! At the Oval. Sit outside his office and demand a meeting! Something that looks active and different that the current sad state of “I am Spartacus.” He’s not protecting anyone right now.
