I missed out on this little gem somehow! Quick catch up for those of you who also did. On Apr 8, SecEd. McMahon was giving a brilliant speech “while speaking at the ASU+GSV Summit, an event focusing on educational innovation.” Things got sticky as McMahon's speech continued: "A school system that's going to start making sure that first graders, or even pre-Ks, have A1 teaching in every year. That's a wonderful thing!" Yes, folks, steak sauce teaching for everyone! "Kids are sponges. They just absorb everything," she added. "It wasn't all that long ago that it was, 'We're going to have internet in our schools!' Now let's see A1 and how can that be helpful." Tweedle Dee to Hegsloth’s Twedle Dum. Or maybe they are Dumb and Dumber. She really read AI as A1. That’s how little she knows about the significant implications of A EYE in our lives and our kids’.
Back to the present embarrassments. The Harvard v TOM fight continues. The Big H is now suing the TOM admin. “University President Alan M. Garber said in a letter to the Harvard community that the administration’s recent actions — including a $2.2 billion federal funding freeze at Harvard, with even more money potentially on the line — “have stark real-life consequences for patients, students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the standing of American higher education in the world.” Garber, who is Jewish, said in his letter he knows there are valid concerns to the rise of antisemitism and that the university has task force groups designated to help “address intolerance” in our community.”
And in the slashing department, Rubio finally jumped into the game everyone else has been playing. Because these things are so unimportant, “Some of the bureaus that are indeed expected to be cut in the new plan include the Office of Global Women’s Issues and the State Department’s diversity and inclusion efforts, which have been eliminated government-wide under Trump. An office charged with surging expertise to war zones and other erupting crises will be eliminated, while other bureaus focused on human rights and justice will be scaled back or folded into other sections of the department.” War crimes? We don’t care about that. Why should we help other countries that are being ravaged by wartime atrocities when we can wreak our own havoc here at home for free?
And finally with a 71% tank of profits in Q1, “Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, said on Tuesday that he would spend less time in Washington working for President Trump after the automaker reported a profit drop of 71 percent in the first three months of the year.” OOOOUUCH. Nice to see that people voting with their feet, or their dollars, actually makes a difference. Message received? Likely not but at least he’s now having to listen to the message. Wouldn’t it be ironic if his Board called for his resignation? Several big investors in TSLA have already called for him to step down. How many will add in after earnings reports today?
