Even Crazy Glue can't fix it

TOM is such a popular guy (the most popular guy ever in the history of world; no one has ever seen anything like him; there’s never been a greater guy) at least in his own mind. But like many of us these days, I think we align with Julia Sugarbaker in her Designing Women call to TOM. I’d have to agree, TOM, we just don’t care…..

The media is currently only following TOM’s foolery as it relates to Ukraine (and how stupid they were to start that war with Russia). BUT there continues to be fallout from the torrential downpour of EO’s and mandates from various Departments. Last Friday 14th when their hearts were feeling particularly small like the Grinch, the Dept of Ed issued an email mandate to cease all action/decision/thought based upon race. “Dear Colleague” began the letter.  Really? Like we’re chatting about something? Like this is a minor note to put in the back of your head? “The letter goes on to outline ED’s interpretation of existing federal law and says it will focus on policies and programs related to, “hiring, promotion, compensation, financial aid, scholarships, prizes, administrative support, discipline, housing, graduation ceremonies, and all other aspects of student, academic, and campus life.” And in 14 days, compliance with said laws will be assessed.

If the Military Academies offer any insight into what this will look like on campuses across the country, on Feb 3 (after TOM’s EO regarding the death of DEI): “The US military academy at West Point has dissolved 12 student-led cultural and professional clubs, following executive orders from the Trump administration targeting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs across federal institutions. The disbanded clubs, many of which have existed for decades, represented diverse cadet experiences, including ethnic heritage groups, professional engineering societies and cultural understanding forums.”

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what TOM will do to HBCU’s. I mean, it’s right there in the aggregate name of these historic and revered institutions. Historically BLACK Colleges and Universities. Maybe they’ll have to get rid of the White Students Club? No more Redneck Rodeo or Annual WASP High Tea.

As with so many other actions taken by TOM and Co in these first 30 days, this seems to be yet another case of cut twice but don’t bother to measure. Ever. (Remember when dear old dad teaching you good shop basics: measure twice, cut once) TOM will just try to sloppily paste the missing pieces back on. Good luck. Though its name might suggest otherwise, even CrazyGlue can’t fix what TOM breaks.
