TOM seems intent on meeting with Putin and Zelensky within the next week. This seems quite the task considering he’s been slamming his buddy Putin for weeks. And publicly humiliated Zelensky in a visit to the Oval. “President Donald Trump could meet in person with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as next week as he seeks to broker an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, a White House official said Wednesday.
The official cautioned that a meeting has not been scheduled yet and no location has been determined. The official was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss internal plans.”
Meanwhile, we, i.e. the US is selling off a Russian seized yacht. Kinda interesting irony of the two issues. “The United States is auctioning off the $325 million yacht Amadea, its first sale of a seized Russian luxury ship since the start of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
The auction, which closes Sept. 10, comes as President Donald Trump seeks to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war. The U.S. has said it’s working with allies to put pressure on Russian oligarchs, some of whom are close to Putin and have had their yachts seized, to try to compel him to stop the war.
The 348-foot-long (106-meter-long) yacht, seized three years ago and currently docked in San Diego, was custom built by the German company Lürssen in 2017. Designed by François Zuretti, the yacht features an interior with extensive marble work, eight state rooms, a beauty salon, a spa, a gym, a helipad, a swimming pool and an elevator. It accommodates 16 guests and 36 crew members.” Maybe I’ll head down to the harbor and take a little look see. Right in our own backyard here in SD.
And no surprise here, a majority of the DOGE-implemented protocols and procedures implemented under Musky are being (quietly) reversed. “More federal changes implemented by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are being rolled back, according to a report from Reuters. The Trump administration on Tuesday formally ended a requirement that federal employees send their managers a weekly message highlighting “five things” they had accomplished. The initiative was reportedly one of the most unpopular things that DOGE implemented.
The Washington Post reported many officials refused to adhere to the new directive. In a meeting just days after the order was emailed to government employees, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) reportedly stated that the list was voluntary and that not abiding would not be understood as a resignation. Officials also stated that when emails were submitted by employees, nothing was being done with them.
It wasn’t long before some government agencies simply axed the emails internally.” Are any of us surprised that this was a futile exercise? Who did they think would actually be going through these tens of thousands of emails? Fraud and abuse anyone? Anyone?
