Among the plethora of fires TOM has stoked, one is burning slowly in the background but will gain strong momentum if the smoke signals are harbingers of what’s to come. TOMs EO regarding pharmaceutical companies and pricing is going to have an effect that I think he and his cronies did not predict. In the near future, it will be harder and harder to find a place to fill your prescriptions. “Rite Aid has sold the pharmacy services of most of its stores across the United States to several rivals. “These agreements ensure our pharmacy customers will experience a smooth transition while preserving jobs for some of our valued team members,” Rite Aid CEO Matt Schroeder said in a statement, adding that the move ensures its customers will “receive the pharmacy services and care they require without interruption.”

CVS Pharmacy was the biggest buyer, snapping up the prescription files of more than 600 Rite Aid stores spanning 15 states and agreeing to buy 64 Rite Aid locations in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The transactions still have to be approved by the relevant bankruptcy court.” While they claim their primary reason for doing so is filing for bankruptcy, I also believe that if the mandate comes down to restrict pricing on drugs, fewer and fewer companies will want to take the risk of payment problems from Medicare and Medicaid.

Insert like ten laughing/crying emojis. Right, the ultimate arbiters of the laws of this land are in some way obstructing justice. I’ll chew on that while I switch on the old Netflix to watch some Mean Girls episodes.
