For those playing along at home, we are at 247 lawsuits filed against TOM & Co. The latest comes from the NYT. If you can’t beat ‘em….. If suing media companies, as TOM loves to do, is a bonafide strategy for quashing the release of facts, then turnabout is fair play. “The New York Times accused the Pentagon in a lawsuit on Thursday of infringing on the constitutional rights of journalists by imposing a set of new restrictions on reporting about the military.
In the suit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, The Times argued that the Defense Department’s new policy violated the First Amendment and “seeks to restrict journalists’ ability to do what journalists have always done — ask questions of government employees and gather information to report stories that take the public beyond official pronouncements.” The complaint sought a court order halting enforcement of the rules and a declaration that the provisions “targeting the exercise of First Amendment rights” were unlawful.” Let’s go!
But SCOTUS has again given TOM another W. Texas can stay gerrymandered. I guess when you throw a lot of money and promises of power to people (SCOTUS) you get what you want. And we’re seeing it play out live. “The Supreme Court’s order comes days before a Dec. 8 deadline for candidates to file to run for office in Texas. It marks a victory for Texas Republicans and for President Trump, who has pushed Republican-led states to revise their congressional maps to try to secure Republican victories in the midterms.
The ruling also adds to the growing list of successes for the Trump administration before the justices, particularly on their emergency docket of cases heard without oral arguments, where the court’s orders are intended to be merely interim. Critics refer to it as the “shadow docket” and note the temporary decisions can have broad consequences.” I’d call it the shady docket. It all looks quite sketchy to those of on the outside. Since the Rs on SCOTUS already know that the court has lost most of its standing and prestige and respect for a large part of our citizenship, they just don’t care anymore. If they ever did care.
The boat attack admiral just saved Hegsloth’s hinnie. “A Navy admiral told lawmakers Thursday that there was no “kill them all” order from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, but grave questions and concerns remain as Congress scrutinizes an attack that killed two survivors of an initial strike on an alleged drug boat in international waters near Venezuela.
Adm. Frank “Mitch” Bradley “was very clear that he was given no such order, to give no quarter or to kill them all,” said Sen. Tom Cotton, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee, as he exited a classified briefing.” The Senate says it ain’t done yet.
Apparently we are all just smoking crack and are a bunch of morons when we say that meeting the costs of daily living has become challenging. “President Donald Trump dismissed concerns over affordability in America, calling it a “con job” and adding, “It doesn’t mean anything to anybody.” Despite those assertions from the president, concerns over the cost of living and the economy are among the top three concerns for Americans, according to recent polling. “The word ‘affordability’ is a con job by the Democrats,” Trump said during a Tuesday cabinet meeting. “They say afford — I watched the other day where some very low-IQ congresswoman talked about affordability, affordability, affordability.” A con job. Says the man who gilds everything in gold and builds $300 million ballrooms. Do you know how many people could be housed in that ballroom?
