Hegsloth thinks he can win the "control of the press" war TOM tried to wage

Oct 14, 2025 (267/1461)

So Hegsloth thought he could do one better than TOM? Silencing the comedians didn’t work out too well in that arena and so big, boastful (not very bright) Hegsloth decided to in whole hog on the entirety of mass media. “The 21-page Pentagon document lays out a number of requirements at odds with freedom of press protections, according to lawyers representing news organizations. One is a provision stating that journalists could be deemed a “security risk” based on several considerations, including whether they disclose classified or even unclassified information without the Pentagon’s authorization. Media lawyers worry that the stricture could expose reporters to punishment for engaging in routine reporting.” Not surprising that the belly laughing from the biggies started early and quickly. Can you hellllll no? “Several news organizations, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, Newsmax and NPR, have announced that their journalists will not sign a new set of Pentagon restrictions affecting news gathering in the vast military complex.

“We fundamentally oppose the restrictions that the Trump administration is imposing on journalists who are reporting on matters of defense and national security,” Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic, said in a statement on Monday announcing that the outlet’s staff would not sign the Pentagon document. “The requirements violate our First Amendment rights, and the rights of Americans who seek to know how taxpayer-funded military resources and personnel are being deployed.” Implementation of the new policy is on a fast track: Journalists have until Tuesday at 5 p.m. to decide whether or not to sign the form. Those who do not must turn in their credentials a day later.” Welcome to totalitarianism kids. And in a final note of professionalism and adult behavior……”In a sequence of posts on X on Monday, Mr. Hegseth responded to the announcements from The Times, The Washington Post and The Atlantic with the hand-wave emoji, which suggested he was saying farewell.”

And that pesky shutdown (which Kristi Noem was trying to force airports to play videos saying flight delays were the Dem’s fault!!!!) fall out begins. “An office dedicated to special education within the U.S. Department of Education was heavily impacted during mass layoffs issued as the federal government remains shut down for the third week, CNN reported. The office served millions of people who have disabilities nationwide. The layoffs impacted the Rehabilitation Services Administration and the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).

According to the Rehabilitation Services Administration’s 2023 performance report, it served 885,006 students across career and training services from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024. The Office of Special Education Programs served 7.6 million students across the nation through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA.” Like the mafia, the punishment is not meted out upon the individual directly responsible for some perceived infraction (say specific Dem members) but upon a “next of kin.” Held hostage by cruel and random decision-making, these young people in our society, already struggling with learning differences, will once again fall farther behind.
