Just because you don’t see it in the headlines, doesn’t mean Greenland has been forgotten. And apparently someone’s hand got caught in the cookie jar. “Denmark's foreign minister has summoned the top US diplomat in Copenhagen, following a report that American citizens have been conducting covert operations in Greenland.
Denmark's public broadcaster DR quoted sources as saying the aim was to infiltrate Greenland's society and promote its secession from Denmark to the US, although it was unable to clarify who the men were working for.
Danish intelligence warned Greenland was being targeted by "various kinds of influence campaigns". This actually made me laugh. So we’re sending over some USA cult leader to get all of the Greenlanders to “convert.” Like, what?
“Denmark's foreign minister said in a statement to the BBC that the government was "aware that foreign actors continue to show an interest in Greenland and its position in the Kingdom of Denmark".
"It is therefore not surprising if we experience outside attempts to influence the future of the Kingdom in the time ahead," he added.” Just beyond bananas.
The Great Takeover in DC continues. Next up Union Station now under the authority of TOM. Sorry, Amtrak, you had your run. “President Donald Trump’s administration is taking management of Union Station away from Amtrak in the latest example of the federal government exerting its power over the nation’s capital.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the takeover Wednesday alongside Amtrak President Roger Harris at Washington’s main transportation hub during the launch of an updated version of the rail service’s Acela train.
Union Station, in walking distance from the Capitol, has “fallen into disrepair” when it should be a “point of pride” for the District of Columbia, Duffy said. He said the Republican administration’s move would help beautify the landmark in an economical way and was in line with Trump’s vision.”
You may think that the 50% tariff going into effect on India won’t impact your world. But you too will likely feel the squeeze. “Washington added an extra 25% duty on top of the 25% imposed earlier this month, citing India’s refusal to stop buying Russian crude and defence hardware.
The duties, which are 16 percentage points higher than China, 31 points higher than most south-east Asian countries and 35 points above South Korea, have pushed US tariffs on Indian goods to levels that the investment house Nomura likened to a “trade embargo”. Aluminium, steel and copper remain at 25%, but job-heavy sectors such as textiles, jewellery, seafood and leather are squarely in the line of fire.” This is punishment from TOM for India purchasing Russian oil.
