Doing everything possible to deter anyone from coming to the US

Aug 21, 2025 (213/1461)

The minutiae that TOM so desperately hates is exactly what he continues to embroil himself in. Now he’s directed State to review the visas of all 55 million individuals who hold them in the US. “The State Department said Thursday that it’s reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners who hold valid U.S. visas for potential revocation or deportable violations of immigration rules.

In a written answer to a question posed by The Associated Press, the department said that all U.S. visa holders are subject to “continuous vetting” with an eye toward any indication that they could be ineligible for the document. The department said it was looking for indicators of ineligibility, including visa overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization.” No one will ever come here again. Ever. Not for business. Not for pleasure. Not to see family. Never. And what’s going to happen to our great melting pot? Ask Hitler. I mean TOM. “Officials say the reviews will include all the visa holders’ social media accounts, law enforcement and immigration records in their home countries, along with any actionable violations of U.S. law committed while they were in the United States.”

It is also going to be much harder to become a US citizen (some US born citizens would likely sell theirs at this point). New protocols and requirements have been put in place that make it even harder for immigrants to gain citizenship. “Previously, immigrants who owed overdue taxes were required to only show they were participating in a payment plan with the IRS to meet the character standard, Mautino said. But the new memo now requires the “full payment” of overdue taxes, as well as other obligations including child-support payments.

USCIS said in the memo this is to make sure immigrants “who have engaged in wrongdoing are properly rehabilitated and reformed.” People who have multiple traffic tickets can now be found to lack good moral character, as well as people who engage in “harassment or aggressive solicitation,” though it is not clear what the memo means by that.” So can we revoke the citizenship of people who do not pay child support, or their taxes and have lots of traffic tickets? Because I bet we could come up with a good list of those. And trade them for the decent, hardworking people coming to our shores.

You also might want to bring a burner phone on your next trip abroad – for when you come back into the US. “Searches of electronic devices by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have hit a record high, data released by the agency shows. Between April and June, searches at the U.S. border of devices such as cell phones and laptops rose by nearly 17% over the previous high for a three-month period.

Officers searched 14,899 devices during the quarter — a significant increase over the 12,766 devices examined between January and March 2022. While U.S. citizens cannot be denied entry to the country for refusing a device search, their electronic items can be temporarily seized. However, a foreign visitor who refuses a search can be detained or deported. They may also face consequences based on the content on their devices. In March, for example, a French scientist was denied entry to the country after border officials located messages on his phone that criticized President Donald Trump’s funding cuts for science. U.S. immigration policies appear to be linked to a downturn in visitors from countries such as Canada. June was the sixth consecutive month to see a decrease in Canadian visitors to the U.S., Forbes reported.” Shocking. Really? A country is being unwelcoming and personally invasive and you don’t want to visit there? I can’t see why…..
