The people have spoken. But only kind of. And only because J Darth Vance pushed the vote over to 51-50. One R had to have a conscience. Just one. And no one would rise above the fear of jeopardizing their re-election to face the fear of the outcome of passing the Bully’s Big Bill. So what now? It’s back to the House it goes. “The House had previously passed its own version of the bill in late May, and only by the slimmest of margins—just one vote. Now, lawmakers will weigh in on the Senate-amended version, which includes significant changes, particularly in areas like Medicaid and federal reimbursements. Critics across the political spectrum emerged, including billionaire Elon Musk, who slammed the GOP on social media as "the PORKY PIG PARTY!!" for combining tax cuts with massive borrowing authority.”
Which is a great tee up for today’s installment of Musky v TOM. TOM, obviously not liking the reference to swine by Musky, fired back that it might be time for Elon to go back to South Africa. “Trump also suggested in an early morning social media post that if Musk lost his government contracts, he “would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.” Asked by a reporter later if he would deport Musk, Trump paused and said, “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look.” If it weren’t so terrifyingly possible, this would make for the best soap opera writing ever. The threat to de-find Musk is very very real. However, the richest man in the world could likely lobby the likes of his counterparts the world over. I’d love to see Zuck and Musk team up and go full hog on TOM.
Alligator Alcatraz was TOMs vacation vista today. “President Donald Trump on Tuesday toured a new immigration detention center surrounded by alligator-filled swamps in the Florida Everglades, suggesting it could be a model for future lockups nationwide as his administration races to expand the infrastructure necessary for increasing deportations.
Trump said he’d like to see similar facilities in “really, many states” and raised the prospect of also deporting U.S. citizens. He even endorsed having Florida National Guard forces possibly serve as immigration judges to ensure migrants are ejected from the country even faster.” It really is the wild wild west (well, south). Now we’re “judging up” the national guard to be judges? Like actual determine-what-the-Constitution means judges?? It really is It Can’t Happen Here where the fascist Pres dubs every Tom, Dick, and Harry as a judge carrying out the retribution for any (perceived) anti-government rhetoric. And in a bltant display of the graft and corruption so rampant in TOMs gov, “The detention center has an estimated annual cost of $450 million, but state officials say at least some of that will be covered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency — which is best known for responding to hurricanes and other natural disasters.” FEMA. Which according to TOM is unnecessary. The states can pay for everything. Wonder if Huckabee-Sanders is going to come knocking on TOMs door, reminding him that he denied her state any FEMA money after a particularly devastating series of tornadoes in the early spring. I certainly hope she does. Though she’ll likely play by the rules and offer up a slew of land in Arkansas for immigrant detention. I know, let’s call it Ozark, like the series. It’ll be a smash hit with TOM.
