TOM racks up the wins as summer begins

It would appear that TOMs wins are racking up mightily this summer. The latest, UVA President resigns because he doesn’t’ want to fight the fed’s. Just pathetic. “The president of the University of Virginia, facing heavy pressure from conservative critics and the Trump administration over the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices, announced Friday that he was resigning rather than “fight the federal government.” Ryan referenced the Trump administration pressure in a statement to the university community Friday in which he said he had submitted his resignation with a “very heavy heart.”

“To make a long story short, I am inclined to fight for what I believe in, and I believe deeply in this University,” he said. “But I cannot make a unilateral decision to fight the federal government in order to save my job.” I’m not sure I completely buy that this is a selfless act – from his point of view. I mean if you’re going to go down, go down fighting and with the ship. But to each his own. The King now has one more fiefdom under his control.

And as TOM stumps for his Bully’s Big Bill, the lies are flying like mosquitos in July in Maine. “In a White House speech on Thursday, Trump falsely claimed Medicaid is “left the same” by the bill. In fact, both the version of the legislation that was narrowly passed by the House in May and the latest version now being contemplated by the Senate contain major Medicaid policy changes and funding cuts that are expected to result in millions of people losing insurance coverage.

Trump also falsely claimed that the bill includes “no tax” on Social Security benefits. The legislation would not actually fulfill Trump’s campaign promise to completely eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, though it would temporarily give seniors a substantially bigger tax deduction. And Trump falsely claimed that “there’ll be a 68% tax increase” if Congress doesn’t approve the bill; there is no credible estimate of anything close to a 68% hike.” This should shock no one. I think even TOM doesn’t actually know the difference between his lies and anything resembling the truth. His truth is the truth.

The no more wars campaigner also “won” by a loss in the Senate on Friday. “A resolution that would have blocked President Donald Trump from further military intervention in Iran narrowly failed Friday evening in the U.S. Senate. Led by Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., Senate Joint Resolution 59 asserted the War Powers Act of 1973 requires Trump to first obtain permission from Congress before any further military action against Iran. The final vote tally was 53-47, short of the 51 votes necessary to keep it alive.” So with guns ablazing and itching for a fight, TOM has the leisure to push the next button whenever the F he wants to. I’d recommend not buying green bananas in the future, folks. Might not get a chance to eat them.
