The retaliation, as expected, from Iran

June 23, 2025 (154/1461)

The tally on broken campaign promises seems to be increasing exponentially. One or two at first. And now showers of them. Let’s look at a few of the highlights…..

·        Ukraine/Russia war will be over in 24 hours

·        Egg prices will go down in 24 hours

·        Cut federal spending by $2 trillion

·        End taxes on social security

·        End the war in Gaza

·        Make IVF free

So it should be no surprise that TOM has apparently dragged us into a war – unauthorized by Congress of course. Iran, as to be expected, retaliated on the US central command in Qatar. No injuries or damage reported. But really? You think this is it from Iran? You don’t think there’s a US airline headed to our shores on their list? “Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has confirmed that Iran launched multiple missiles at a U.S. military base in Qatar. It comes days after President Donald Trump confirmed that America bombed Iranian nuclear sites.

Roughly 10,000 American troops are stationed on the Al Udeid Air Base. The U.S. military has not reported any casualties in this attack.”

TOM once again is tossing out his view of the world. “Regime change” is his new mantra. Just like Trump Gaza, right? Uh huh. That worked out well for him. ““If the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change???” Trump posted on his social media site over the weekend. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday insisted that Trump, who spent years railing against “forever wars” and pushing an “America first” world view, had not committed a political about-face.

Final note about that pesky requirement that Congress authorize all foreign military action. Seems there’s a chink in the MAGA armor. “It took U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie nine minutes to respond to President Donald Trump’s announcement that he had ordered warplanes to strike Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday, June 21. “This is not Constitutional,” the Kentucky Republican wrote on X, underscoring both the questions surrounding the president’s unilateral decision to attack Iran and a fissure in Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.

Both the Constitution and federal law require congressional consent for military action against foreign adversaries. But Trump and his allies say he ordered the attack in response to an imminent threat, and they pushed back against dissenters.

On his Truth Social website, Trump called Massie “weak,” “ineffective,” “a simple-minded ‘grandstander’” and “not MAGA,” before concluding, “GET THIS ‘BUM’ OUT OF OFFICE, ASAP!!!”

I can’t believe I’m siding with a R from Kentucky. Not much surprises me anymore though.
