Russia ceasefire? Depends upon who you ask

So TOM got on the horn today with Putrid Putin. Seems he’s all warm and fuzzy feeling about a potential ceasefire negotiation.  

“President Donald Trump announced after a two-hour call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that “Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War.” Why are Ceasefire and War capitalized? Sorry. Continued rant from the other day about English not being German. No capital Nouns. “The Vatican, as represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested in hosting the negotiations. Let the process begin!” Trump added.”

It’s funny how TOM’s world really is a separate reality from the rest of us. It seems Putin had a different convo from the one TOM made up in his head. “The U.S. president expressed his position regarding a cessation of hostilities and a ceasefire, and also acknowledged that Russia likewise favors a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. We simply need to identify the most effective paths toward peace,” Putin said after the meeting, refusing to publicly commit to a ceasefire. “At the same time, I want to emphasize that, overall, Russia’s position is clear,” Putin said after the call. “Our main objective is to eliminate the root causes of this crisis.” And of course Putin believes the root cause is Ukraine is independent from Russia.

So I see the angling here for a Nobel Peace Prize. TOM wants one. He’s not been shy about advertising that. Though I’m not sure this is going to be the Great Negotiation that will get him there. What would be truly Karmic would be for Zelenskyy to receive it. Can you imagine the foot stomping and temper tantrumming that would accompany that announcement?

The Supremes were singing TOM’s tune today when they allowed his admin to remove legal protections from 350,000 Venezuelans. “The court’s order, with only one noted dissent, puts on hold a ruling from a federal judge in San Francisco that kept in place Temporary Protected Status for the Venezuelans that would have otherwise expired last month. The justices provided no rationale, which is common in emergency appeals. The high court’s order appears to be the “single largest action in modern American history stripping any group of non-citizens of immigration status,” said Ahilan Arulanantham, one of the attorneys for Venezuelan migrants.

TOM may another round in his bid to control the media. CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon said Monday that she is resigning after four years, the latest fallout at the network as its parent company considers settling a lawsuit with President Donald Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview with his former political opponent.

McMahon, who has led both the network news division and news for the CBS-owned stations, said in an email message to staff that “it’s become clear that the company and I do not agree on the path forward. It’s time to move on and for this organization to move forward with new leadership.”

McMahon has made clear she opposes settling with Trump — just like “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens, who quit last month.”

And with her out. It will clear the way for TOM to bully his settlement through.

“The new administration has been battling with the media over several fronts, including:

—Engaging in a court fight with The Associated Press over curtailing access because the agency has not followed Trump’s wishes to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

—Making efforts to shut down government-run news services like the Voice of America.

—Cutting funding to public broadcasting”

When you control the media, you control “the truth.”
