TOM's tariffs will rid us of income taxes.......he promises...really

Lots of families are going to have to re-think their summer plans. As we creep toward Memorial Day, and the start of summer travel, people who thought they would hit the open roads and see our national parks are up for a big surprise. “Campgrounds, boat ramps and other facilities in at least 30 locations at federal lakes and reservoirs in six states will be closed or have their hours curtailed as of mid-May as the Trump administration tries to rapidly shrink the U.S. government. Officials at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees the lakes and reservoirs and their amenities for boating, camping, hiking and sightseeing, said they are dealing with staffing shortages and other budgetary restrictions.

Corps spokesman Douglas Garman said concentrating staff at fewer recreational sites will allow those sites to keep the “full range of services” that visitors expect.”

You’d think with all of the chest thumping about Make America Great Again, TOM & Co would be hard-selling the American landscape as the best place to vacation. And in tune with that song, sending more funding to the parks system. But nope. Not our TOM. The nominal amount being saved by slashing the National Park Service budget and firing 1000’s is absurd in relation to the amount that the parks bring in annually. “According to the Interior Department figures of the National Parks Traveler, last summer alone the parks brought in $55.6 billion, which supported over 400,000 jobs.” I hope TOM sees the error of his spiteful ways when Americans scramble for the exits - to go to other countries –  and spend their hard-earned cash on vacations elsewhere this summer.

If we all wait a few years, according to TOM, we won’t have to worry about our stock market losses because he’s going to eliminate income taxes. Yup. He said this out loud to the world.  “President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post Sunday morning “many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated” once revenue from tariffs comes in—though economists remain skeptical. Trump said in the post the “focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year”—which is more than four times the median personal income in the U.S. in 2023, according to Census Bureau data.”

It Can’t Happen Here – it’s like TOM reads the book every night to decide his next absurd proposal. Case in point, the fascist Prez in ICHH, promises $5000 to every American. Spoiler alert…..it never happens. People become more poor than ever.

I vote to dock Petey’s pay til we recoup that money. My tax dollars paid for that plane. And those boys weren’t even supposed to be out there. “The carrier was slated to come home last month, but Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth extended its deployment while ordering another carrier -- the USS Carl Vinson -- to the region to bolster military power.” Overworked and I’m sure underpaid.
