The foundation of TOM’s house is crumbling. One chink of mortar at a time, one brick becoming looser and looser. Today begins the dismantling of the Dept of Education. Because of course you wouldn’t want people to think critically and be able to question the choices that you are dictating for them. Keep them dumb and in the kitchen. All of them. Not just the womenfolk. “Flanked by children seated at school desks, President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday aiming to eliminate the U.S. Education Department, advancing a campaign promise to eliminate an agency that’s been a longtime target of conservatives. Trump said the agency will maintain control of federal student loans and Pell grants.

Trump has derided the department as wasteful and polluted by liberal ideology. Completing its dismantling is most likely impossible without an act of Congress, which created the department in 1979. “ Those poor suckered children don’t realize they’re sitting next to the man who will single handedly determine their future. And that future is bleak at best.

 

And Muskrat really might have to turn DOGE on himself because regulators recalled ALL Cybertrucks today. Dude!  Mind your day job for a second.

 

Back to the genesis of this daily rant – It Can’t Happen Here – in which the dictator President takes over all of the colleges and universities and repurposes them. Most notably, Dartmouth College is turned into an arm of the central gov as a “fascist government official, acting as a "District Commissioner," takes over Dartmouth College buildings, expelling students and using the space for his offices.” Today, TOM gave an ultimatum to Columbia University – a very private institution. “With $400 million in canceled government grants and contracts on the line, federal officials ordered Columbia’s administration to place the university’s Middle Eastern studies department under academic receivership for at least five years.” Uh huh. The grants have already been cancelled. Screw you, TOM. Keep your money, we keep our right to educate about what and to whom we choose.

And the final gobsmack for the day….the Commerce Secretary is now making stock recommendations to the population. “Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick urged the public to “buy Tesla” stock, a highly unusual promotion by a Cabinet member of a company whose current investors have suffered a sharp slide in share price since December. Lutnick’s touting of Tesla shares Wednesday night came as CEO Elon Musk oversees the highly controversial DOGE effort to slash the federal workforce for the Trump administration.” Conflict of interest? Out of your scope of operation? Never mind. Doin’ it anyway. Hollywood’s got nothin’ on TOM.
