One-Two Judicial Punch

Might there be a pothole in the seemingly cleanly paved road for TOM? After TOM and Co called for the impeachment of a judge who rendered a decision they didn’t like (and then held them accountable for the timing of the flight of airplanes carrying illegal immigrants) Roberts of SCOTUS could be silent no longer. It’s like when you don’t really like a family member so you make fun of them or talk badly about them, but if your spouse says word one against said disliked family member, you suddenly become the staunchest fan. “How dare you speak badly of my mother?!”

“In an extraordinary display of conflict between the executive and judiciary branches, Chief Justice John Roberts rejected calls for impeaching judges shortly after President Donald Trump demanded the removal of one who ruled against his deportation plans. “For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,” Roberts said. “The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.”

OOooohhh. Them’s fighting words. So much for TOM’s side comment to Roberts on his address to a joint session of Congress.

“Trump greeted Roberts warmly earlier this month, thanking him and saying “I won’t forget” as justices attended his address to a joint session of Congress. The president said later he was thanking Roberts for swearing him into office.”  Un huh. Sure he was. We all know this was re: saving TOM’s ass with the decision regarding Presidential immunity, which fell like a lead balloon on TOM’s side just before the election.

And it a one-two punch to the gut, “The dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development by billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency likely violated the Constitution, a federal judge ruled Tuesday as he indefinitely blocked DOGE from making further cuts to the agency.” Really?? It “might” have been anti-Constitutional? Gee. No one else had that thought. So glad someone finally decided to poke TOM and Muskrat in the face with it.

“Musk’s public statements and social media posts demonstrate that he has “firm control over DOGE,” the judge found pointing to an online post where Musk said he had “fed USAID into the wood chipper.” This would seem to be in strict counterpoint to TOM saying that Muskrat is only an advisor and not an actor in the gov. “The order requires the Trump administration to restore email and computer access to all employees of USAID, including those put on administrative leave, though it appears to stop short of reversing firings or fully resurrecting the agency.”

Oh to be a fly on the wall of the Oval today. Double knock down. Will TOM get up? We all know the answer to that, but the question is how much of dent will this leave in his ego and how much will it fuel his belief that he is King?

One final gotcha to TOM’s press secretary for her insulting and inappropriate comments to France earlier. “White House press secretary says French should be ‘grateful’ to US they are ‘not speaking German’” And just a little point of reference for you, Karoline, after 9/11, “NATO invoked its collective defence clause (Article 5) for the first and only time in response to the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 on the United States. NATO's Counter-Terrorism Policy Guidelines focus Alliance efforts on three main areas: awareness, capabilities and engagement. I’d say maybe we have France to thank for being part of NATO and making sure we didn’t end up losing many more thousands in the days after 9/11.
